To mark the 25th anniversary of his debut, actor and film director Takumi Saito has directed a short documentary film that follows the process of "manufacturing" over a period of six months.
The story of a maison with over 50 years of history that is unique even in Japan, the moment when a design is born from the selection of fabric, the process of a collection being completed after fittings, the work of technicians, backstage and on stage on the day of the show, and what lies ahead... Through a long interview with Director Saito, what does creation mean to Ashida, and the conflicts she faces as "Ashida Jun's daughter" are all brought to light...

It started as a coincidence that I was chosen to document TAE ASHIDA's 25th anniversary, but it seems like it's inevitable.
I believe that the process by which Tae-san continues to protect her own in-house production maison and work closely with sewing technicians and other craftsmen will be a work that should be preserved, especially in this day and age when fast fashion is in full swing.
