Jun Ashida
(1930 – 2018)
中原淳一氏に師事。60年、髙島屋の顧問デザイナーに就任。63年、妻の友子と株式会社ジュン アシダを設立。66年から10年間、美智子妃殿下(現上皇后陛下)の専任デザイナーを務める。94年アジア競技大会(広島)、96年アトランタ五輪では日本選手団公式ユニフォームのデザインを担当。旭日中綬章、紫綬褒章、フランス共和国芸術文化勲章オフィシエ、イタリア共和国功労勲章カヴァリエーレ・ウフィチャーレ章、ルクセンブルク大公国功労勲章オフィシエ章等、受章多数。2018年88歳の生涯を閉じる。
After studying with Junichi Nakahara, he founded Jun Ashida Co., Ltd. in 1963 with his wife Tomoko. In 1960 he was appointed consulting designer for Takashimaya Department Store. For ten years starting in 1966, he was the exclusive designer for Her Imperial Highness the Crown Princess (presently Her Majesty the Empress). Mr. Ashida designed the official uniforms of the Japanese athletic delegations to the 1994 Hiroshima Asian Games and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon (Japan); Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon (Japan); Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters (France); Officer in the Order of Merit (Italy); and Officer in the Order of Merit (Luxembourg). He passed away at the age of 88 in 2018.

Appointed the exclusive designer to Her Imperial Highness, the Crown Princess (now Her Majesty the Empress Emerita), and served in this capacity for a period of 10 years, and in succeeding years has served princesses of all the branches of the imperial family
